"Josie and our wonderful dance instructor, Maurice, made my Hip-Hop themed 30th birthday party a huge success! All of my friends had the best time, and it made for a fun, creative, original, and memorable event!  My friends are already asking what I have planned for next year. Thanks, Josie & Maurice!" - Lily

SCHOOL RESIDENCIES

Visiting Artist Program

Learn about dance by having one of our teachers come right to your door during school hours or after school.  Students and teachers can benefit from having 1-6 hours of training in any one or more of the following dances:  Argentine Tango, Salsa, Ballet, Belly Dance, Flamenco or Hip Hop.

Spanish Dance & Culture Program (Either Flamenco, Argentine Tango, Salsa or a Combination of 2 or 3)

  1. Enhance your Spanish Language classes and learn about the range of Spanish dance culture that exists around the world through the unique perspective of dance. Bring an engaging kinesthetic experience into your classroom and enrich your curriculum and Spanish vocabulary.  "I often tell students that music and dance are central to Spanish speaking cultures, and using their whole bodies to learn a dance (i.e., Flamenco, Argentine Tango and Salsa) has brought students to a deeper level of understanding and appreciation of these cultures," says Rosibel Sosa, collaborating Spanish teacher at Ossining High School, Spring Semester 2009.  Central American dances (i.e., Cumbia, Merengue, Bachata) can also be incorporated into the program.

  2. Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month With Dance.  Dances of Spain, Central & South America are all part of our mainstream culture today!  We offer programs of performance and instruction during this exciting time of the school year.

  3. Incorporate dance into your classroom studies with classic literary works and visuals of famous Spanish playrights such as Federico Garcia Lorca and renowned directors such as Carlos Saura. Supplemental handouts and reading materials are available for both teachers and students. Or work one-on-one to design your own curriculum.

  4. Programs of various lengths.  One to four day blocks of time consisting of a 40-minute to 1-hour class period is desired for each dance learned. Programs of longer duration can end their residency with a final performance.

LIBRARY PROGRAMS

We offer instruction and performances to all ages for libraries' day-time, after-school and evening programs.
